The photo's tinted, so you can't see how strong the reds and the golds play off of the black, but it's a damned fine picture. I won best steampunk costume in my class at ConFusion 2009 this weekend along with the other crew members of the S.M.S. Zepherus.
I'd write a credits list for this costume, but it's lengthy- so for those of you who spurred me on or loaned me patterns or advice through this batshit project, thanks!
Feel free to ask any questions on particulars!

LOVE the Firefly reference!!! I followed you here from LJ btw. Great with all the details; they really add to the believability. For me that's what makes or breaks any ensemble.
Rest assured... if you just take a look at our official papers here, you'll see that we are indeed registered privateers of the British Air Navy... not pirates. Nope, no pirates here! Pleased to meet you, madam!
Hey, thanks for the patterns! I ended up using the half-bustle and the french bodice patterns on this puppy- so really it wouldn't be looking this good without you.

A penny for your thoughts and giving your two cents in.... the proverbial rip-off. "Here's the story of a brother by the name of Othello/ he dug white women and he liked.... green jello...."
O, yeah, I was supposed to ask you - and I don't know if you would have time or not or be interested - but my mom was wondering about hiring you to make a pirate ice-skating costume for her (I showed her this ). It would have to be all stretchy material (stretch velvet most likely), so I don't know if you do that, since stretchy stuff is Speshel and the opposite of the usual period fabrics (unless the period was 1980 or something).

When did it suddenly become cool to hate everything? It's a growing problem, especially in the entertainment world, and no one benefits from an increasingly hard to please, pessimistic audience.
A Special Collection of photographs i found this month that still haunts my mind. Show them some love There are always some i can`t include due to space, i try to make the features under 50 deviations to give them better exposure
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
