Vulgarian Dress- Bodice

I had a riot being wickedly fabulous at MiRF this year as Katya Ghuttzout, Margraffin of Moribund from the Unholy Empire of Vulgaria. I not only got to be lewd and crude, but I got my pretty dress at long last without having to sacrifice being my loud self. I even got to play with KNIVES! [link]

As far as detail is concerned, this is the best photo that's popped up so far of my Vulgarian ensemble- in respects to seeing the little red glass beads on my stomacher.

I made the hat, in the style of a Capotan- which is a little late for the period, but meh. The gown body itself is black velveteen for the sake of durability, with the stomacher snapping then tying on in the front. And yes, those are spikes on the shoulder rolls...

The chemise is dyed cotton voile and verreh cozy. The gloves were interesting, in that they were originally prom-style picked up at a flea market for $6. I trimmed them, added the fur, and cut off the fingers for a more punk-rock edge.

My other pride and joy is the ruff, which is made out of black leather. Without my friends Mark and Katherine Moore it wouldn't have been impossible (when I got too sore and sleepy mid-pleating, Katherine picked up my slack.) Also my jedi master Tawny, who provided a lot of nice baubles and advice.
